Wizards of the Coast has shadow dropped a new Dungeons & Dragons sourcebook, starring Minsc and Boo from the Baldur’s Gate series. All proceeds from the book will go to the Extra Life charity, which has raised over thirty million dollars for sick children since 2008 through various gaming marathon events.
Minsc debuted in Baldur’s Gate as one of the party members that could be recruited during the early hours of the game. He is always joined by his animal companion, Boo, who is a miniature giant space hamster. Minsc is a Ranger, who was originally sworn to protect a Rasheman Witch, named Dynaheir. When Dynaheir is killed before the events of Baldur’s Gate 2, he rejoins the party and swears revenge against her killer. Minsc and Boo were later petrified, and awoken in the modern era. The duo is still adventuring in the Forgotten Realms to this day and can be seen in the pages of the D&D comics.
