Eternals Trailer Shows the MCU’s First LGBTQ+ Family

A new teaser trailer for the Eternals movie emerges online — offering a look at the MCU’s first LGBTQ+ family via Phastos, his husband, and their son.

The latest trailer for Eternals offers the first official glimpse at the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s first on-screen LGBTQ+ family. Created by Jack Kirby, the fictional race debuted in 1976’s The Eternals #1 and will make their jump to the big screen in November this year. Tasked by the god-like Celestials, they protect the Earth from their hostile and more monstrous-looking counterparts: the Deviants. In service of this mission, members of Marvel’s eclectic team have an array of powers both individual and collective.

Eternals is adapted by the Oscar-winning Chloé Zhao following an apparently breathtaking pitch. As well as directing, Zhao has a firm hand in the script to the point that she is credited twice. Blending Hollywood stalwarts with recently emerging stars and newcomers, Eternals’ central group includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena. The Eternals movie will see the group reckon with not helping against such threats as Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Avengers: Infinity War after living in secret for 7000 years.
