Ex-student charged in Houston school shooting that injured 1

People wait at a parking lot on the corner of Hiram Clarke Rd. and W. Fuqua St. where families are meeting up with their children who study at YES Prep Southwest Secondary school after a shooting took place at the school, Friday, Oct. 1, 2021, in Houston.

Homero Duque, 38, holds on to his daughter Melissa Duque, 11, who is a YES Prep Southwest Secondary school student as a school bus approaches to drop children at parking lot on the corner of Hiram Clarke Rd. and W. Fuqua St. after a shooting took place at the school, Friday, Oct. 1, 2021, in Houston. Melissa who is a sixth grader at the school was picked up from the school at 11:37 a.m. after calling her parents saying she felt uneasy, about 10 minutes before a report of an active shooter was reported. The pair went to the parking lot to try to meet up with Melissa’s friends who where inside the school at the moment of the shooting because she got anxious about their safety.
