Georgia GOP’s Support of Trump Could Cost State Races in 2022, Some Party Members Warn

Georgia Republicans have seen infighting after former President Donald Trump’s rally last month, when he criticized Republican Governor Brian Kemp, angering Kemp supporters who fear it could hurt party chances in state races in 2022, the Associated Press reported.

Kemp has yet to fully accept Trump’s ongoing election fraud claims, and Trump’s smear campaign of Kemp resembles how Trump targeted other state Republican party officials who did not try to overturn his loss.

“He wants to torpedo Brian Kemp,” said James Hall, a state Republican Party committee member from Savannah.
