Keira Knightley has signed on to star in the leading role in a film by 20th Century Studios based on the 1960 Boston Strangler murders.
Keira Knightley is set to take on the leading role in 20th Century Studios’ Boston Strangler based on the 1960 Boston Strangler murders. Knightley has achieved global stardom since making her big screen debut in the late ’90s. She has starred in projects ranging from mega blockbusters like the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise to critically acclaimed films like 2005’s Pride & Prejudice, for which she also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
As reported by Deadline, Knightley has signed for the film currently titled Boston Strangler for 20th Century Studios and will team up with director Matt Ruskin. Ruskin was born and brought up in Boston and first made a name for himself with the 2017 film, Crown Heights, starring LaKeith Stanfield. Knightley will be playing Loretta McLaughlin, an investigative reporter who first broke the story of the Boston Strangler. The film will be produced by The Last Duel director Ridley Scott and Kevin Walsh of Scott Free Productions with Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara of LuckyChap Entertainment set to join as co-producers.
