In Marvel’s What If…?, Ultron begins his age on a grand scale, using the Infinity Stones to create his own Death Star that’s much more destructive
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Marvel’s What If…? episode 8, “What If…Ultron Won?”
In Marvel’s What If…?, Ultron has created his own version of Star Wars’ Death Star, though it’s much more powerful in its destructive capabilities. Operating in a timeline where Ultron defeated the Avengers and nuked the world, episode 8 of the animated series sees Ultron expanding his goals beyond his version of peace for Earth, defeating Thanos and taking the Infinity Stones to conquer the universe. As such, he soon creates massive armies of drones and a large orbital base resembling the Empire’s “fully armed and operational” battle station.
In Marvel’s What If…?, Ultron succeeded in uploading his consciousness into the synthezoid body that was meant to become Vision by using the Mind Stone. This granted the sinister AI the advantage he needed to defeat the Avengers and win, beginning his age of dark peace by destroying humanity. However, when Thanos arrived with the remaining Stones for his own conquest, he was instantly killed by Ultron, who took the powerful Stones for himself. This expanded and evolved his consciousness, and he was then motivated to begin new conquest: seeking to bring his corrupted brand of peace to the universe at large.
