Simu Liu, star of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, shares a behind-the-scenes image of the climactic Wenwu fight sequence from the movie.
Simu Liu, star of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, has shared a behind-the-scenes image of his character fighting Wenwu in the movie. Liu plays the title character, Shang-Chi, in the Marvel superhero film that premiered back in September. Since its release, the movie has grossed over $386 million worldwide, earning the title of the fifth highest grossing movie of 2021. The MCU Phase 4 flick has received universal praise from critics that celebrate the movie’s performances, representation of Asian culture and actors, and impressive action sequence choreography.
Like other Marvel movies, Shang-Chi has its fair share of action scenes. However, one of the reasons these fight sequences feel so real is because Liu extensively trained with the stunt crew in order to convincingly perform his own moves on screen. Besides the infamous Shang-Chi bus fight sequence, one of the biggest action scenes in the movie is the climactic battle between Shang-Chi and his father: the leader of the Ten Rings, Wenwu (Tony Leung). The sequence is filled with mesmerizing visual effects, well-choreographed punches, and a superhuman smackdown that builds the father-son emotional tension.
