Paramount Pictures reveals the release date and bonus features for the 4K Ultra-HD and Blu-ray releases of Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins. Serving as a soft reboot to the live-action Hasbro film franchise, the story revolves around Henry Golding’s titular loner as he is brought in to the Arashikage ninja clan by Tommy Arashikage after saving his life, putting them both on the paths to become Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow and join the Cobra and G.I. Joe organizations. Alongside Golding, the cast for Snake Eyes included Warrior star Andrew Koji as Arashikage, Úrsula Corberó as the Baroness, Samara Weaving as Scarlett, Iko Uwais as Hard Master and Peter Mensah as Blind Master.
Following numerous delays in its release schedule, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins hit theaters in July 2021 to mixed-to-negative reviews from critics, who highlighted the lackluster writing and poorly shot action sequences while commending the film’s performances and production values. The film would also struggle at the box office, grossing just $37 million worldwide against an $88 million production budget and an estimated $160-175 million break-even point. With a couple of months behind the film’s release on digital platforms, Paramount has exciting news for those who enjoyed the film.
