Marvel Comics preview for Eternals: Celestia showcases Ajak and the Eternals first meeting with the original ancient Avengers.

Marvel Comics is about to take another deep dive into the history of the Eternals, with their next comic story focusing on their inital meeting with the first Avengers of 1,000,000 BCE. In a brand new preview for Eternals: Celestia #1, Ajak’s original responsibility as a translator for the Celestials is expanded on. In the story, her unlikely encounter with Marvel’s oldest Avengers team more than a million years ago is set to be revealed.

The Eternals are one of the oldest races in Marvel Comics history, as their creation at the hands of the Celestials occurred more than one million years ago. The group served the Celestials and formed their own society on Earth. In Kieron Gillen, Esad Ribic, and Matthew Wilson’s current Eternals run, it was revealed that each time one of their own died and was resurrected by the Great Machine, it ultimately cost a human life as well. That meant the Eternals accidentally killed thousands of innocent lives. Gillen’s continued to add to the lore of the Eternals, with the most recent one-shot, Eternals: Thanos Rises, showing how the Mad Titan’s birth created a domino effect for the future fate of the ancient heroes.
