The end of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 is here, and Epic Games is celebrating with a special Doomsday event this Saturday starting at 2PM EST.
[UPDATE 5:06PM June 6th, 2020: Epic Games has moved the date of THE DEVICE event to Monday, June 15th and the start of Season 3 to Wednesday, June 17th.]
Pending anymore delays from Epic Games, the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 ending event is only a few days away. The doomsday event was originally planned to take place on May 29, with Season 3 launching just a few days later on June 4. However, Epic Games announced a delay to both the event and the launch of Fortnite Season 3, pushing the event back to this Saturday, June 6. The announcements also gave players a solid time for the start of the event and revealed its actual name.
Up until the announcement made on May 28, fans had been referring to the upcoming change as The Doomsday Event, which referenced the doomsday clock that has recently appeared in-game. The clock, in classic doomsday fashion, is a digital timer that counts down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until the event starts. The clock was obviously reset after the delay was announced, but now the event has an official name. Epic Games has called it “The Device” and revealed that it will be a one-time-only Fortnite event with limited seating.
